göldo “The Downholder”
Many Les Paul and ES guitar type players out there think about adding a tremolo system to their guitar. installing a classic “horse-shoe” trem system, however, would mean that four holes would have to be drilled into the top of the beloved instrument. An unpopular measure. Larger trem systems with included downholder roller bars, on the other hand, are usually located very close to the bridge. This can cause problems such as ineffective tremulation, unstable tuning and excessive string breaking.
Our Downholder is simply mounted in the existing threaded bushings of the stop tailpiece and allows the installation of a larger trem system without an included downholder roller. “The Downholder” guides the strings with the right amount of pressure to the level of the bridge. This makes it possible to transform a tailpiece instrument into a well-functioning tremolo guitar without having to modify its hardware or wood.
The mounting screws of The Downholder are supplied in both metric and US thread sizes. The spacing of the mounting studs can be adjusted in a wide range. The axle is simply pushed loosely through the mounting holes of the studs and then fixed with one allen screw on each side.
