Bridge pins, of course, have first and foremost the job of keeping the strings firmly in place. Even the cheapest plastic pins do this job quite well, but there are pins made of various other materials that can influence the sound and volume of the guitar. Depending on which material you choose, you can also direct the sound of a guitar in a certain direction or cleverly compensate existing deficits. Quite a few guitarists use this effect of the bridge pins in a very focused way by mixing different materials depending on the string and the desired sound.
